Suzy’s Law

The Suzanne Gonzales Suicide Prevention Act of 2011

Suzy in the news

For those of you who are just joining us — hi, all you new people — I thought I’d offer some background information on who Suzy was and why H.R. 940 has been named after her.

Here’s an article about Suzy that ran in the San Francisco Chronicle on June 8, 2003.

And here’s the story that CNN ran on November 11, 2005.

Finally, just to round out the round-up, here’s the article that I myself wrote about Suzy, also on November 11, 2005.

I’ve got to warn you, though: This isn’t a happy story. It’s a tragic story, a story that’ll break your heart. There’s no happy ending here.

Which, I guess, is why we’re doing this. We’re trying to make some kind of happy ending out of Suzy’s story. If not for Suzy herself, then for the untold millions of people like Suzy out there whose stories haven’t been written yet.
